Destia to construct two substations for OX2 wind farms

Destia has signed contracts with OX2 for the design and construction of two 400 kV substations for the Rajamäenkylä and Honkakangas wind farms in western Finland. In addition to the substation, a 400 kV power line will also be built for the Honkakangas wind farm.
The Rajamäenkylä wind farm is located in South Ostrobothnia in the municipalities of Isojoki and Karijoki, and the Honkakangas wind farm in Halsua in Central Ostrobothnia. Work on both turnkey projects will start immediately. The Honkakangas project will be completed in August 2026 and the Rajamäenkylä project a year later in August 2027.
The importance of wind farms will continue to grow in the future. Renewable energy is needed to ensure the vitality and sustainable growth of society. Both new wind farms will be directly connected to the 400 kV grid. They will contribute to the self-sufficiency of domestic electricity production and support the goals of the green transition.
Destia invests in responsible construction and is committed to using renewable HVO fuel oil for machinery and maintaining site operations during construction.
“We have been very satisfied with Destia’s expertise and project management in our ongoing Niinimäki wind power project. We particularly appreciate Destia’s commitment to our HSE goals. We’re pleased to continue the cooperation in our Rajamäenkylä and Honkakangas projects as well,” says Country Manager Veli-Pekka Alkula from OX2 Finland.
“We have strong expertise in turnkey delivery of substations and power lines. In wind farm projects, we play our part in ensuring energy availability and stable distribution with the construction of functional and reliable energy transfer infrastructure that creates vitality both locally and nationally,” says Tapio Leskinen, Head of Energy Networks at Destia.
